This photograph was taken on the land. You know. The Land. Home. The annual family reunion. Mecca. Michfest. I had been, of course, asked to dress as an insect. What can one do under such circumstances? Refuse? I think not. The only thing to do was to meet the challenge head on with a hoop skirt and some tulle.
So there I was - dressed in yellow stripes in order to promote the 2nd Annual Spelling Bee (the first annual will forever be commemorated by the Mighigan Womyn's Music Festival T-shirt.) I was walking around creating a buzz - "hoop"-ing it up - pollinating with the people - when all of a sudden I spotted the sign in front of the Over 40s Tent (Home to the new Oh Fo Art Gallery and The Festival Quilt.)
As you well know, I am a quilter in real life.
In a flash second (which I found hilarious) my worlds collided. I mean WHAT are the chances that a quilter would spontaneously find herself dressed as a bee while holding a "Quilting Bee" sign?
Michigan Magic, my friends. I am telling you. Magic.
Mmmmmm. More later. For now - I go to sleep happy to have finished my first day in three years as a homeschooling mother. The day could not have gone better if I had written a script for it. I am blessed.
